IMFB: Teaching Tackling

My staff at Cornerstone goes over our tackling drills we do for all players. These drills can be used every single day. Here we employ heads-up and hawk tackling. Enjoy a couple of our best drills here for FREE, and the entire video on our Patreon for FREE (for all the guys that say we charge for everything).

Heads up tackling technique that teaches our players to shoot the hips and throw the hands. You can teach head placement, wrap, and hips from the knees with minimal contact and risk of injury.

Take a look at the GIF below.

The second drill we look at here is the Hawk form tackle. In the Hawk form, we work from our knees again. This allows the coaches to see the players get their head out of the tackle, and get their eyes to the thighs. We tell our “runner” to sell (a pro wrasslin term).

In the GIF below you can see the runner go down easy and the tackler keep his head out of the play.

Lastly, we look at hawk angle tackle. Here the runner goes at a nice easy jog as the linebacker gets in a good stance, takes his read steps, scrapes to the ball, and makes a great form hawk tackle. Look at his head placement, his eyes to the thighs, and his drive for 5.
