At this point in the off-season (2 weeks) we’ve started to incorporate more actual weight versus only using body weight with our more veteran lifters. Our green lifters are still sticking to body weight as we get them primed and ready to convert to the hypertrophy phase.
Since I started coaching high school football, and subsequently started coaching S&C as well, I’ve noticed two big issues:
- If you’ve given them time off, kids never show up in shape when you’re back on.
- No one (myself included) runs right.
Thus, we spend the first few days learning how to run again.
